A vermicompost hatchery was established along with the commencement of KVK, Lengpui. The unit has a capacity about 20 quintals of vermicompost with about 200 kgs of vermicompost utilized. Apart from the vermicompost utilized within our farm’s demonstration plot, about 4000 kgs of vermicompost has already being produced here and is sold @ Rs 5/kg. These vermicompost are mainly bought by florist from Aizawl and farmers from Lengpui areas. The sale of vermicompost may be one source to compensate KVK’s revolving fund.
